The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) defines research impact as the demonstrable contribution that excellent research makes to society and the economy. This can involve academic impact, economic and societal impact or both.  

Research impact is specific to each project and there is no one route to generating positive impact. UBEL DTP encourages students throughout the course of their studentship to consider what their project could change and whom their research could benefit.
