About Me

Ph.D. Candidate in Economics with a curious mind that wanders through mathematics, literature, history, and philosophy. When I am not deep in data or theory, you will find me practicing calisthenics, reading a good book or bonding with friends.

My Research

My research explores the relationship between mental health disorders (MHDs), substance abuse, and socioeconomic dynamics, with a focus on how MHDs contribute to income inequality. While public health research has documented the strong links between income and mental health, economic studies have largely concentrated on the drivers of MHDs, neglecting how these conditions shape inequality and poverty. This study aims to address this gap by examining how depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and substance abuse affect inequality and labour market outcomes.

Impact of My Research

I believe my research may have a significant contribution to economics by bridging a critical gap between mental health studies and income inequality. While the economics of health has often emphasized physical health and healthcare access, the economic consequences of mental health disorders (MHDs) remain underexplored. By examining how conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and substance abuse shape income distribution and poverty, this study repositions mental health as a fundamental driver of socioeconomic outcomes rather than a peripheral concern.
