About Me:
I am Jihee Kim, and I am from South Korea. I worked in various research sectors, from the federal government to academia, before enrolling for a Ph.D. I have been interested in healthy ageing (HA) and have recently started my interest in expanding some research scopes of HA, including social prescribing (especially leisure activities) and human flourishing as its determinants. When not doing research/working, I enjoy exploring new foods/places/activities around me! I am happy to get to know you all. 😊
My Research:
The proposed study aims to measure the evolution of diverse health dimensions for monitoring changes in healthy ageing over time, to elucidate the dynamic interactions between healthy ageing and determinants, and to identify the impact of the pandemic on HA.
Impact of My Research:
The proposed study will be one of the largest to investigate mid-later-life healthy ageing (HA) and resilience in older English adults, utilising the ELSA and its COVID-19 Substudy. We anticipate that our findings will inform health policy and interventions that address the dynamic needs and heterogeneous levels of capacity of the English mid-late-life population as they age, with the goal of improving well-being and health and promoting healthy lives. We also expect that findings from this study will guide policymakers and the government in concerted actions to monitor growing health inequalities and the prolonged changes in health, economic, and social structures in the wake of COVID-19, with a greater awareness of promoting inclusion and resilience. In order to disseminate findings, the current research project will lay the groundwork for collaborative engagement with non -academic sectors and older adults, who will be the primary beneficiaries of our study.
