Funded Internships

UBEL encourages students to undertake internships in order to enhance their future career prospects, generate transferrable skills and increase the impact of research. While UBEL will continue to advertise external internships and placements as and when they are received, UBEL funded students have the opportunity to devise their own internship and can apply for support and approval via an online application form.

All proposals should be written with supervisor approval and confirmation from the organisation where you propose to intern.

Internships should not interfere with the progress of PhD work and you should demonstrate how the internship will benefit your research more widely.

Students may either interrupt their registration and stipends in order to undertake an internship paid by the host organisation or receive a stipend extension of up to 13 weeks to undertake an internship funded by UBEL DTP. In both cases, the internship must be approved by UBEL DTP. Students should make clear in their application the duration of the proposed internship as well as any financial contributions available from the collaborating organisation.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that all internship requests will be funded. All request are subject to DTP Management review and approval.
