About Me
I am a PhD Psychology candidate at Birkbeck, University of London, with dual MSc degrees in Organizational Psychology and Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Financial Services. Before academia, I spent 16 years in investment banking focusing on finance technology project management and commodities operations. This experience gives me a unique perspective on work addiction, health, and well-being. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and recently climbed Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s tallest peak. I hope to climb the Seven Summits someday, as I’m always up for a new challenge.
My Research
My research focuses on work addiction and its associations with mental health outcomes, burnout, and overall well-being. I aim to identify vulnerable populations and examine socio-demographic factors, psychopathological correlates, prevalence rates, and well-being indicators such as life satisfaction, job satisfaction, and work-life balance. Leveraging my expertise in psychology, finance, and technology, the project will take an open-science perspective and employ advanced quantitative methods, including network analysis with machine learning techniques, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling to unravel the intricate dynamics underlying work addiction’s impact on individual and collective well-being.
Impact of My Research
Given the growing prevalence of work addiction and its effects on individuals and communities, my research aims to uncover its impact on various well-being factors. By clarifying the associations between work addiction and mental health, the findings will help guide the development of evidence-based interventions and policies. The use of advanced analytical techniques and an open-science approach will enhance our understanding of work addiction, supporting efforts to improve mental health, work-life balance, and overall quality of life.
