The Social Policy pathway has one training route: Social Policy and Social Research, based at the Social Research Institute at the IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society . The route supports students in different aspects of the study of civic, institutional and governmental processes as they play out in social policy. Its scope ranges across all the social sciences and all areas of public policy. In their PhD study, students can choose to focus on any substantive area, but would be expected to consider, possibly as part of a wider framework of analysis, the interplay between research and social policy or professional practice.
1+3 or +3 studentships are available. 1+3 students will start their studies with the MSc in Social Policy and Social Research or the MSc in Social Policy and Social Research (with Systematic Reviews). Interested applicants should, in the first instance, make contact with a potential supervisor from within UCL IOE’s Social Research Institute. Further guidance here.
