About me: I graduated with a BA Mathematics from Trinity College, Dublin and an MSc in Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). I am interested in methods for handling missing data which are a common problem when working data and can lead to problems in analyses when handled incorrectly. Previously with an NIHR summer internship I spent time in a clinical trials research unit imputing missing covariates for a Bayesian update of a cost-effectiveness model.
My Research and the difference it makes: The aim of my PhD is to develop flexible approaches to the handling of missing data in survival analyses using simulation studies and observational datasets to assess any methods developed. Missing data is a problem in many investigations as it can lead to biased estimates as well as a loss of power to detect associations between covariates and times to event. Developing strategies to handle missing data in survival studies can help to improve the way studies are performed and improve the conclusions drawn.
