University of Warwick Postgraduate Research Conference Call for Abstracts

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The University of Warwick – Department of Education Studies

The 9th Annual Education Studies Postgraduate Research Conference (Online)

Friday 22nd April – Saturday 23rd April 2022

Dear all,

We are delighted to announce that the call for abstracts and registration are now open for The University of Warwick – Department for Education Studies 9th Annual Education Studies Postgraduate Research Conference. The conference will be held on two days,  Friday 22nd April 2022, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Saturday 23rd April, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, hosted online via Microsoft Teams.

The conference is open to postgraduate research students whose research connects with Education in its broadest sense. We welcome presenters and attendees from the Department for Education Studies as well as other departments at Warwick, and from other higher education institutions in the UK and beyond. The conference offers a dynamic and friendly environment for postgraduate researchers to showcase and discuss their research, even if the research is still in early stages. You do not need to have completed data collection in order to submit an abstract, as you can present e.g. a literature review-based or a theoretical paper. We invite potential presenters to consider how their research relates to changes in our world; be it about current or historic, local or global issues. Attendees will be able to listen to colleagues from different areas of the Education Studies field; those presenting will be able to receive feedback in a diverse, constructive and academically rigorous environment.

This year the conference will include a keynote programme of two panel sessions on the theme of ‘Education, Conflict, and Displacement’. However, presenters are encouraged to submit abstracts irrespective of their relevance to this theme. We are happy to accept submissions that are related to any of the sub-themes listed below. This year we are accepting live presentations and poster submissions (asynchronous). Please, note that both oral and poster submissions will require an abstract to be uploaded first.  Further information can be found on the conference webpages. The keynote panel speakers who will present at the conference are:

Michael Wyness, Department of Education Studies, University of Warwick (presenting on Friday)

Laura Puiggali and Dareen Assaf, Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA) (presenting on Friday)

Dallal Stevens, School of Law, University of Warwick (presenting on Saturday)

Tejendra Pherali, Institute of Education, University College London (presenting on Saturday)
